Lance Cpl. Justin Sims, 22, died Saturday when the Humvee he was in was hit by a rocket-propelled grenade west of Baghdad. Sims, a 2003 graduate of Holmes High School, was on his second tour of duty in Iraq. He joined the Marines after he graduated. He got married in December 2004, just before heading to Iraq for his first tour of duty. Sims leaves behind his wife, Leah, as well as a father, mother and six half-sisters. His death is the latest in a series of military losses for the Tri-State. Lance Cpl. Bryan Taylor, 20, was laid to rest on Friday. He also died in Iraq, and the Department of Defense is still investigating the incident. Earlier this month, Sfc. Gregory Rogers was killed in an explosion near his Humvee.
