Commitment to solving Gwinner homocide garners 'thank youÂ’/9-28
So often we read about the Butler County Sheriff’s Office and about all of the things they are doing “wrong or inappropriately.” We frequently hear negativity from our community when appreciation and recognition should be displayed for these fine men and women.
One particular goal and commitment that the BCSO has been focusing on since early spring has been solving the 1997 cold case homicide of Alana “Laney” Gwinner and for that I want to say thank you.
Detective Frank Smith and his investigating team have been applying numerous hours working diligently on finding Laney’s killer. This is not only to provide answers for the family and friends of Laney but to also to put a murderer behind bars where this person(s) deserve to be.
It is time for answers and I feel that for once in 7.5 years that someone is actually concerned. Each and every day, I wake up and cherish the fact that these men and women on the force CARE, something I didn’t find before. Each day I treasure the fact that Laney is no longer a name labeled on the outside of filing boxes.
She was a victim of crime and for that she deserves justice and I am confident that this magnificent team will not stop until the injustice on Laney’s life is accounted for.
Thank you Detective Smith, Sheriff Jones and your team. Your efforts are respected and I am confident your results will be rewarding.
