Stacey Lynn Balas, 25, of Fairview Park Ohio vanished without a trace on Nov. 26,
1996 after completing her shift at a Subway shop where she was employed. Months
after Balas' disappearance, another woman in the same general area was attacked by
the last person to see Stacey the day she vanished. His name is Larry Wade. He had a
prior violent sexual past and he was subsequently arrested and charged with the
attack on the other lady. This took place less than 2 months after Stacey vanished.
Larry Wade claimed he was innocent of both cases, although he was never charged
formally for Stacey's disappearance, UNTIL THIS WEEK. Monday he will be araigned for
the disappearance and murder of Stacey. The article below give more in depth
information on her case.
This is a sad day for Dave and Lynn Balas who have waited for answers for what will
be nine years as the 26th of this month rolls around. Please read below:

CLEVELAND - A former clerk for a fast-food restaurant reported missing in 1996 is
now considered dead, and authorities on Thursday accused a man she worked with of
killing her.
Stacey Balas, 25, was killed Nov. 26, 1996, after she left her job at a Subway
Sandwich Shop in the Cleveland suburb of Fairview Park, Cuyahoga County Prosecutor
William A. Mason said.
The woman's family had held out hope that she was alive.
Larry Wade, 46, an inmate at Madison Correctional Institution serving a 10-year term
for gross sexual imposition, attempted rape and kidnapping, was charged with
aggravated murder. He is to be arraigned Monday. He is due for parole June 7, 2007.
Mason said police in Fairview Park and another suburb, North Ridgeville, where Balas
lived, along with lawyers in his office recently began taking another look at the
case.
Mason said he could not reveal what new details authorities have about the case.
"Based on the information we now have obtained, we believe she is dead," Mason said.
"We don't have a body and we don't know if it ever will be recovered. It probably
went to a landfill somewhere."
Rick Bell, an assistant prosecutor, said authorities have placed greater weight on a
statement from Wade's wife, who told investigators she remembers finding a credit
card and unfamiliar car keys in her husband's clothing.
The key belonged to a Nissan Pathfinder that Balas had driven and was found four
blocks from where she worked. The credit card was used three times a few days after
she was reported missing.
A green shirt worn by Subway employees that would have fit Balas also was found with
Wade.
Information about the shirt and card had been known to police in the weeks after
Balas was reported missing.
